2027 Wildside WESTern Series - Race #1
Finally, a skimo race series that is a bit more beginner-friendly but still super fun and exciting! While some of the other races in SnowGoat’s lineup are pretty tough (even the Recreation Loop at Vertfest is pretty stout!), this race is designed to offer a good introduction to skimo racing. The course will still have a little bit of everything with some non-technical skinning, multiple transitions, and a bootpack.
But even if you’ve been in the skimo world for decades, don’t ignore the race series! Sign up for all three races in the series, or just one to try it out. Skinning up under the lights on a Thursday or Friday night is a great experience and will leave your weekend schedule free for more turns.
This year we will aim to have a small awards gathering by the fire pits at Summit West after each race!

Wy’easter Skimo Race
The uphill grind for the downhill party, this grassroots skimo race is designed to create a fun, positive, and inclusive atmosphere to test your skills, build community, and introduce you to this fast and light endurance sport.
We are pleased to announce Wy’easter 2027 will be a USA Skimo National Cup event! The National Cup Series showcases 4 - 6 races across the nation and participants accumulate points. At the end of the season, the top 3 podium positions are awarded medals for the Individual and Sprint races.

Get ready for an unforgettable nighttime adventure at Stevens Pass! Join us for an exciting skimo race, designed for both seasoned uphill enthusiasts and newcomers eager to experience the thrill of the ascent in a welcoming, community-focused setting.
The race consists of two laps and is set up as a relay, grab a teammate and rally together! Each team member will complete one lap. If you can’t find a partner or would rather take on the full course solo, no problem, you’re welcome to ski both laps on your own.
This event is about more than just racing, it’s an opportunity to celebrate the uphill with a passionate, welcoming community. Whether you’re chasing the podium or soaking in the alpenglow beneath the surrounding peaks, you’ll find your place here. The course will be clearly marked, and racers will receive a detailed map, schedule, and safety briefing in advance so everyone feels prepared and confident.
Spectators are welcome to cheer on participants from the start and finish area, and the evening will wrap up with an awards ceremony at 7:30 PM. The race is set up as a relay: each racer completes one lap to the top of Kehr’s Chair and back down before tagging their teammate for the second lap. Participants racing solo will complete both laps themselves. All of this takes place at Stevens Pass, under the stars.

Vertfest
Vertfest will continue the tradition of a mass shotgun start, steep bootpacks, challenging skinning, and probably intense skiing down Upper International, and a killer après party! For those who a single ascent and descent isn't enough, we are back to having our second loop entering the Alpental backcountry.
The Rookie Rally is back! This Vertical only event is a 1,700’ race to the top of Armstrong. Starting right after the main event, Rookie Rally Racers will be timed only on the ascent. After finishing, racers can enjoy their turns to the bottom and go through the Finish Chute.
As part of the winter celebration, don't be afraid to have some fun! While skimo racing is fun, doing it in costume is even more fun. We always reserve a fantastic prize package for whoever races in the best costume (as voted on by the crowd), so bring out your best.
SnowGoat is happy to bring the most epic winter post race party back this year too. Stay after the race for music, vendor village, gear raffle, and lots of fun.
We need volunteers too! There are many crucial roles we need help at. Volunteers earn a free race entry, tshirt, and a Summit at Snoqualmie lift ticket you can use anytime in the future.

Kulshan Randonnée
North America’s only backcountry glaciated ski mountaineering race. Highlighting the soul of the sport. We are proud to host the USA Skimo US National Teams Championship!
Taking place on the southern flanks of Kulshan (Mount Baker) in the North Cascades, the Kulshan Randonnée will be a race like nothing else out there. Teams will tour together through the Mount Baker National Recreational Area: racers ascend up to the Park Butte Lookout, the Easton Glacier, and the Squak Glacier, then ski fantastic lines down to the our Finish party in the woods. No matter if this is your first competitive ski event or you’re a grizzled veteran, our Short and Full Courses hold the challenge you’re looking for.
New for 2027, we are switching to a minimum team size of 2 for both distances and removing the requirement to be roped together on the glacier section (the previously required Skills Check Assessment will become a glacier skiing education seminar).
