Refund Policy

Before registering and participating in any of our events, a race participant must agree to the following policies in their entirety. SnowGoat Skimo reserves the right to modify these policies at any time.

Regular Season Refund policy (all races other than the Kulshan Randonnee):

We want our skimo races to happen as much as anyone. However, we reserve the right to cancel, alter, postpone, or reschedule any race at any time if conditions are deemed unsafe or if circumstances make the event impossible to conduct.

This may occur in response to a force majeure event happening before or during the race. Force majeure events include, but are not limited to, extreme or severe weather, avalanche risk or unstable snow conditions, lack of snow, earthquake, landslide, volcanic activity, flooding, storm damage, communicable or infectious disease outbreaks, acts of war or terrorism, security threats, or any other unforeseen circumstances that make the event unsafe, violate permitting requirements, or conflict with resort policies, event insurance requirements, or permitting conditions.

Individual cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the event will receive a 75% credit that can be rolled over towards a future SnowGoat Skimo event. Cancellations made less than 30 but more than 15 days prior to the event will receive a 50% credit towards a future event. No refunds or credits are given for cancellations made fewer than 15 days before the event. In the event that SnowGoat Skimo needs to cancel a race for any reason, including but not limited to weather, safety concerns, avalanche hazard, closures or terrain availability at commercial ski areas, or public road closures, registrants will receive a 100% credit towards a future event upon request. Requests must be made within 15 days of the originally planned event date. Rollover credits expire after one year. If a rollover credit is used for a future event that is then cancelled, or the participant cancels their registration, the credit is forfeited. We recognize that this may seem unfair, but the majority of our costs of putting on a race are committed and non-refundable well before the date of the event.

Kulshan Randonnee Policy: We recognize the risk a race team might take in registering for an ambitious race like the Rando:

  • We have partnered with a provider for event cancellation insurance. If we are unable to host the race, each race team will receive a full refund of their registration fee. The fee for this insurance is 3% of the registration fee. The refund will be processed through a third-party entity. We understand this is yet another added cost, but feel the value and protection it offers is significant towards ensuring race teams will be made whole.

  • Race Captains will have the option of purchasing Racer Registration Protection through during registration checkout, for an additional 3%, which would cover unexpected travel interruptions outside a team’s control.

  • If a team opted not to purchase Racer Reg Protection and must pull their entry, they will be offered a deferral credit, valid for one year:

    • If notified 60+ days before race, 75% deferral credit

    • If notified within 30 - 60 days of race, 66% deferral credit

    • If notified within 7 - 30 days of race, 33% deferral credit

    • If notified within 7 days of races, no deferral credit

    • Teams are allowed to transfer their race entry to another team

  • Pregnancy Deferral: Any registered racer who becomes pregnant during the months preceding their race may opt for a Pregnancy Deferral. Please email a doctor's note to us and we will happily honor the fact that you are bringing a new and precious skimo racer into the community. The deferral is valid for two years. Please notify us 30 or more in advance of your race date.

  • Financial Hardship Scholarship: We want skimo racing to be accessible to everyone. We set our registration fees to appropriately cover the resort permit fees, insurance, materials, and one part time staff member for some of the back end work. However, we know the race fees might be too high for some community members to afford, so we have a Financial Hardship Scholarship available for those individuals. Please email us at info@snowgoatskimo.com if you would like to apply. Also, remember that you can earn a free race entry by just volunteering or bringing your touring partner out to volunteer while you race!
