JIM ORSI
Head Race Director

Born in Philadelphia and raised in the Lehigh Valley of eastern Pennsylvania (Go Birds!), Jim learned to alpine ski in the rain in the Poconos, or as he calls them, the "Stoke-onos." He learned to backcountry tour by climbing the Beast Coast’s Mt. Washington in Lange alpine race boots and now-banned primitive torture devices called “alpine trekkers.”

Since those rainy days in the Poconos, he has skied in 17 states, climbed or skied most of the PNW’s volcanoes, created the Mountaineers of Seattle’s intro to backcountry touring program, and is a PSIA-certified ski instructor. In between skiing and climbing, Jim found time to earn a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University and had a career as a director of digital product design for various global companies such as Nike. He is excited to use his operational skills to help SnowGoat continue bringing great skimo racing to the Pacific Northwest. He currently calls Bend, Oregon, home.
