Are you interested in racing but are a bit tentative and have questions? Come to the new Black Diamond Flagship store in Seattle for a Kulshan Q&A! We will cover the technical requirements, fitness/training, and of course, gear. Any gear upgrades you might need you’ll be able to take advantage of a Black Diamond discount right there at the store.

Shasta Ascension Backcountry Race | January 24th 2026
Coming back for a 10th year, the backcountry ski and splitboard race follows a traditional ski mountaineering format through an established trail.
Loup Loup Skimo Race | TBD
Hosted by Cascade Endurance, this race gets you Loupy for sure. Race up and down the Loup Loup Ski Area (1,300’ vert) as many times as you can in one or four hours. All downhill skiing is on a blue run. Then refresh at the bottom aid station!
Mt Ashland Skimo Summit | January 31st 2026
This race is going to be a beast! There’s a full course with four major climbs and skiing outside the resort boundary. But don’t fear! They still offer a recreation course to dip your toes in, so there’s something for everyone here.
Mt Bachelor Vertfest | February 8th 2026
Mount Bachelor also has a Vertical Festival! Put on by the Central Oregon Avalanche Center, there’s a full day of uphill skinning and downhill shredding, demos, clinics, vendor village, friends, bonfire, s'mores and other festivities. Of course, the main event is the uphill race.
Little Skimo race | February 14th 2026
Put on by the West Central Uphill Alliance Idaho, Little Skimo is a fun and supportive community event for anyone who enjoys uphill/backcountry skiing/boarding. No experience in skimo racing necessary! Located in McCall, Idaho. If you have or can borrow a setup that goes uphill, you are the perfect person for this event!
Patrol Race | March 21st 2026
10th year anniversary of the modern re-invention of this historic race! The race traverses nearly 20 miles of rugged terrain, primarily following the Pacific Crest Trail, gaining and losing over 4,500 feet of elevation between Snoqualmie Pass and Meany Lodge (historically named the "Meany Ski Hut," and is just below Stampede Pass). This race first ran in 1930 and was modeled after “military patrol races” common in Europe at the time, but the first of its kind in America.
